Displacing Yourself to Please Others, It Does Not Mean They Would Pay You Back

1. Sometimes we think when

We go out of

Our ways, displacing and

Displeasing ourselves to please

2. Others, with time the

People would repay us

Back and if they

Do not repay us

 

3. They would at least

Appreciate what we have

Done for them, the

Sacrifices made for their sakes

4. But I wish to

State here that life

Is not like that

People are not like that.

5. An old man stated

As he said, I will

Share with you some

Stories to buttress this up.

6. There was once a

A family whose wife

Has taken in, she

Was in her third trimester

7. When her husband’s junior

Brother visited the family

They were living in

A room apartment that

8. They partitioned with cotton

To separate their bed

From where they put

Their chairs at.

9. When the guy visited

He said he came

For an interview in

That state and would soon leave

10. Because of him, the

Wife started sleeping on

The floor with mat

Because she wants to

11. Please the brother of

Her husband, for that

Is the culture of their

Land, wives must respect in-laws

12. Because of her sleeping

On the floor, the

Woman went into forced

Labor and would have lost

13. The pregnancy, but this

Guy for which this

Was done for, did

Not visit the woman

14. In the hospital before

Her when he gets to his place.

15. Another one is the

Case of a friend,

Who went a borrowing

Institution. The friend graduated

He was having extra-year

In the institution, things

Went from bad to worse

18. For this young man

Such that he can

Barely feed let alone

Raise the tuition fees

 

19. In the meanwhile, his

Friend was fortunate, immediately

He finished he secured

An appointment with reputable company

20. He was highly paid

By the company, but

Despite being well paid

He never remembered his

21. Friend who went and

Borrow money for him

To finish from the

Institution. In fact whenever

22. His issue is raised

With him, he would

Just say he is sorry

He cannot help for his hands are tight

23. Another example is that

Of a politician who

Has been vying for

The position of governor

24. In his state, he

Has competed for the

Position with others for

About five times without winning

25. Then, someone took him

To someone who is

Well respected in the

Region where his vote usually come low

26  That person promised to

Help and that if

He is helped he

Shouldn’t not forget him

27. Because he has been

Helping several politicians to

Win his region but

None has ever remembered him

28. The politician promised heaven

And earth that his

Own would be different

If he can only try him

 

29. The man agreed and

Call his subjects together

That they should vote

For the man during the next election

30. He was voted for

En masse such that

Hardly did any of

The other candidates have votes

31. In that region. After

Winning the election, he

Never acknowledges this man

For one second

32. He did not even

Go there to appreciate

Him let alone do

All he promised for him

33. What he started saying

To the press and

Others who have gone

And interview him on his success

34. Was quoting the scriptures,

That, “to every thing there

Is a season, and a time

To every purpose under the heaven” (Ecc 3:1)

35. And that, “but when

The fulness of the

Time was come,” (Gal 4:4a)

God crowned his efforts

36. “This is the LORD'S doing;

It is marvellous in our eyes.” (Psa 118:23)

He will say to the

Pressmen and others that visited him

37. The people of the

Region almost stoned their

Leader if not that

They see that his life too was

38. Not changed among them

That’s when they know

That he has not received

Anything from the man

39. That he was acting

In their best interest.

They would help others

42. And the burden would

Not be on him,

Thus, he started attending

43. Sponsoring them in schools

And in other endeavors

Of theirs. Soon enough

Things turn negatively around

44. For this man such

That he cannot feed

Himself let alone his

Family members. His children

45. Became beggars and dropped

Out of institutions because

They cannot afford the

Tuition fees.

46. Some of those people

He had helped before

Had become someone in

The society, but they

47. Did not remember this

Man, all they keep

On saying was his

Wife was a witch

48. His wife was possessed

That’s why things turn

Negatively around for him

The wife who did not

49. Prevented her husband from

Helping them, the wife

Who did not kill

Them when they were living with them

50. But now that things

Have turned around negatively

That is when they

Knew the woman was possessed of evils

51. Someone opined, if the

Wife was possessed, let

Us agree with them,

Why not helping the man alone?

52. Another says, why not

Helping at least one

Of the man’s children

Or are all the children possessed too?

53. Someone on hearing this

Opined that they would

Say, when they help

The man or his children

54. They are indubitably helping

The woman and their

Businesses would also pack up

Or something terrible happen to them later

55. In short, the man

Neither his children were

Helped which makes some

Atheists to be saying

56. Those of us who

Never believed in God

Like you do can never

Do what your people are doing.

57. That is how life

Is, don’t think for

Helping or displacing, making

Yourself grossly uncomfortable for

58. Someone else’s success, such

A one would remember you

In the nearest future

If you have that mind you have missed it.

 

59. People are selfish, people

Do not want it

Well with someone else,

Help if you can,

60. But don’t think they

Will help you back

When it is getting on

Well with them in future.

61. This I have learnt

In a bitter way

In the world, I

Do not want you become a victim like me,
