A Hymn: Cain and Abel
A Hymn: Cain and Abel
(“And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.” (Gen 4:2))
Composer’s Foreword: I am not good in notes, but from the local church trainings while in choir, I have come around with this hymn using another hymn. If you know the hymn beneath, then you can join me to sing this song unto the Lord.
The Tune of Hymn to Use
“PLEASANT are Thy courts above
In the land of light and love
Pleasant are Thy courts below
In this land of sin and woe
Oh! my Spirit longs and faints
For the convers of Thy saints
For the brightness of Thy face
For Thy fullness, God of Grace
Author: Henry Francis Lyte 1834
The Composed Song
1. And even during the early world
Cain an’ Abel wert in existence
And Cain was a tiller of the ground
While Abel was a keeper of sheep
And Cain brought ‘ven his offering
Out of the fruits from the ground
As a sacrifice unto the Lord
But the Lord doesn’t accept his offering.
2. Abel who is a keeper of sheep
Also during the process of time
Brought some out from the animals he keeps
Even the firstlings out from the flock
The fat ones out of the flock
They wert the ones Abel brought
To offer as sacrifice to Lord
The Lord hath respect to him and his offering
3. However Cain was not happy with it
That God has had no respect for
Him including his sacrifice
Therefore he was even very wroth
And then his countenance fell
He walks no more with Abel
He stops communication with him
Neither speaks good nor evil words with him
4. The Lord and God has to also call
Cain has he called even to himself
He asketh of why he was very wroth
And the reason why he has lost his joy
The Lord saith unto him that
If thou hast even done well
Thou shalt be over joyous
Well accepted shall thou also be
5. Unto Cain hath the Lord also said that
And if thou has failed to do well
The sin shall lie even at thine door
And unto it shall thy desire be
Evil thoughts shall fill thine heart
And thou shall rule over him
Thou hast to repent and turn
And thou hast to conquer the evil thought
6. But Cain would not even hearken to this
Very word that the Lord speaks to him
Against Abel also Cain hath risen
Even his brother when they were in field
And he slew even Abel
He hath also buried him
That no one will know of it
But everything is opened to God.
7. However when God asks of Abel
From Cain who also was his brother
Cain hath replied he did not see him
He was telling lie unto the Lord
And the God has told him that
The blood of Abel speaketh
Even from the ground to Him
It is shouting also for vengeance
8. And the God also avenged of Abel
He curseth Cain even on the earth
Even the Cain’s ground he curseth
That it ‘ll not yield its strength to him again
He made him a fugitive
And even a vagabond
And he puts an evil mark
Even on him that no one ‘ll kill him.
9. Put off therefore from you the old man
The anger, the wrath, and the malice
And also every of its deeds
You should even forsake everything
Let us therefore now be changed
Let us become new in our minds
That we shall not see the wrath
Of the Lord the Judge of the world
