APPLICATION
Sometimes if not all the times, when someone promises to give someone something, particularly money, the person’s heart will be there, and he will start planning on how to use the money, and when this happens, by the time ther person finishes his/her analysis on what he or she is expecting from the person, she or he will just discover that the money is not enough as there would be other things that she or he will still be in need of but which cannot be catered for by the money promised to be given the person, because the money has been fixed. This will make him or her to start looking for other means of getting money to settle those other things needed.

This proverb shows the psychological position of humans hearts, that
when we hear something of interest our hearts would have rely on that thing,
and by the time we penned down all we needed what has been promised may not be
enough for what we needed.
However,
this proverb does not suggest we should be playing hide and seek game
with our partner, neither does it suggest
stinginess nor laziness. It encourages
us to work because no one can cater for all we need in life.
This proverb is sometimes used by some people to tell the person that
they want to give money to that they won’t tell him or her what they want to do
until they have done that so that the person’s hope will not be raised beyond
normal.
MY ADVICE
Whatever anyone helps you with appreciate the person and work with your own hands so that God helps in multiplying the works of your hand because no one can meet with all you need in life, and when someone promises you something don’t rely too much on the thing until you get it, for tides and times change at times that make the person not to be able to fulfil the promise again.
