Think of the Future

(Everyone lives soberly when they are yet to be rich)

1. A man dejectedly walked

To where an old man

Was. His mien was bad

The old man asked

 

2. To know what could

Be heavy burden on

His heart that he

Is not cheerful.

3. The man told the old

Man of what he

Experienced from his nephew

Who is now rich

4. How he turned him

Down and would not

Want to see him

Again in life

5. Adding that he has

Been there for him

When things were bad

But now that’s got

6. It right because he

Possesses money, he does

Not wish to be

In close rapport with him again

7. The old man felt sorry

For him but told him

That what he experienced

Is a common thing

8. With those who are

Rich. When they are

Yet struggling they would

Be gentle and can

9. Hardly kill a fly

But on the instant that

Their lives change, they

Also change their disposition to issues

10. What one thinks they

Had been known for

Their standard behavior would

Change after they possess wealth

11. There was a man

Whom one thinks is

Humble because of his

Talk, walk and interaction in society

12. When he was yet

To be rich. Many

Envied him and I

Have heard some youths

13. Say they look forward

To be like the

Man when they grow old

This was because of his behavior

14. But his actions changed

After he was awarded

A contract by the

Government of the island

15. He would have made

Millions as gains from

The contracts he executed

He was the rave of the moment

16. For the millions he

Has made, his life

Changed and the disposition

To issues of life changed

17. Like the proverb of Jesus

To his disciples in

Luke chapter 12 verse 15

That what a man possesses

18. Does not define his

Life on earth. Neither

Does it show that

A person would be well mannered

19. This man ordered for

His house to be demolished

Because he now wants

People to know

20. That he has arrived

That he now has

What is called money

That his taste has changed

21. The building was pulled down

And within 90 days

A new one built

Which is two story building

22. It is not pulling

Down the building to

Build a new one that

Was wrong, but the man’s manner

23. He started living on

The third floor, forgetting

That he is growing old

He distanced himself from

24. Those close associates of

His, before he possessed

His wealth, his family

Members were not important anymore

25. He renders no help

To anyone, he became

Proud and this made

People to distance themselves from him

26. After a while, contracts

Cease and money was

Not as before on

Him again.

27. Age too was not

On his side as

Climbing the stairs to

His apartment became herculean task

28. What he prides in

Was no longer things

Of pride again. The

Youths who had made him his role model

29. Did not make him

His model again for

Pride. Legacies he was

Building for the future has been tarnished

30. he died at that

Position and was un-celebrated

At his burial because

Of his changed disposition to life issues

31. when alive. In all

That we are doing

We should always remember

The future and should not use

32. Our present to destroy

Our future. This is

What your nephew does

Not know, I hope he knows this

33. Before it is late

So that he will not end

His life in regrets like

Others ahead of him had.
