HOARY HAIR'S GAIN and ẸWÀ ÈDÈ

HOARY HAIR'S GAIN and ẸWÀ ÈDÈ
One of the things that the Lord in the Bible says hoary hair has gained is respect. They have gained or won respect from those who are coming up.
The writers of the Bible, who under the influence of the Holy Ghost put down the contents in the bible expressing the minds of God to all human beings who care to read the bible knows that there are some hoary heads who will sometimes behave funny, but yet, that Holy Words explicitly stated that they should be respected.
As a person, I think it is logical. Consider even one of the Yoruba adages, that says "ohun ti àgbà rí ti oju rẹ fi jìn, bi ọmọde bá rí i, ojú nã yio fọ́" translation what the ageds/old people have seen that make their eye suckets to be sunken, if a child sees it, that child will go blind".
This adage by our fathers also shows us that the old people, someone you know is older than you and perhaps who could give birth to you need to be respected. This adage does not say that old people, the hoary hairs, the hoary or grey haired people could not make mistakes and would have made mistakes in the past, but yet the proverb explicitly shows as well as the bible that they should not be treated anyhow just because of that.
Assuming Yoruba Proverbs do not match the developed climes, but yet it is evidently clear that The Holy Bible transcends races, tribes and cultures and ought not to be lightly esteemed the contents in there.
Based on the ipso facto do I want to say the new trends of some people most especially politicians in addressing some old people should be re-addressed by them.
One of the things that Yoruba culture has is what is called "beauty of language", or "language beautification" (ẹwà èdè).
This language beautification is a means, or may be I should say a gift that God has bestowed on Yoruba culture such that one speaks hard words to people with the people not being offended. This kind of "ẹwà èdè" has been lost by majority of the politicians, what the grammarians would call throwing caution into the winds. Politicians most especially Yoruba descent politicians, have threw this "ẹwà èdè" into the dustbin and have burnt it off as such they say anything to any old people around when such ones do not follow their paths, when such ones do not believe in their dreams and at times they would use their attained position to avenge those old people who have wronged them in the past and they will now pass it under the auspices of playing politics.
What they are doing is largely entering into the mindsets of the young people such that they are also throwing into the furnace of Baker's fire this God given "ẹwà èdè".
As young ones, do not let the demons of anger overwhelm you such that you will not know how to address the elderly people in our midst. They are designedly preserved by God for us so that we shall be able to drink out of the cups or tanks of their experiences and these experiences include:
- Their failures,
- Their mistakes,
- Their regrets,
- Their successes etc.
If any Youth thinks the elderly ones have only been preserved to teach us their successes, then such a person is mistaken. What we are to learn from them include those errors and regrets so as to be our guides and so that we would not fall.
The elders have won for themselves respects from us because the age they have attained we would discover as we grow and experience some physiological changes in our bodies that "uhmn", it is not easy to pass through those kinds of stages. Some would not exceed that point as they give up the ghosts. They have exceeded that to show us that God preserves them and wants us to respect them.
Has any old person grieved you? What is it the person has done? Instead of hurling insults at him or her, you may take time out to sort things out with the person. In the case the person does not change, the bible strongly suggests that we use the rule of neglect or ignore for the person. Yo
u should ignore the person instead of trying to win a point as it is commonly seen these days
